Paris Elementary School Tornado Safe Room
PARIS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SAFE ROOM PARIS, TENNESSEE
Completed in 2009, the Paris Elementary School Safe Room is a Four (4) Classroom Addition to the Paris Elementary School and Civic Center and can accommodate up to 892 individuals. A tornado struck and severely damaged the classroom wing where this Safe Room is now located in 2007. The Paris Special School District hired EnviroSafe Solutions of America (ESSA) in 2008 to apply for a FEMA Grant to help pay for the design and construction of this 5,000 sq. ft./ (4) Classroom Addition.
Near Absolute Protection
The Grant was approved in the amount of $470,467. ESSA managed the grant and Henson Construction Services, Inc. provided Construction Management Services. You may contact Director of Schools Mike Brown or Facilities Manager Richie Chilcutt if you would like to know more about how ESSA and/or HCS managed this Project.
The Safe Room will provide much needed classroom space while offering the students, staff and surrounding residents shelter in the event of a severe storm with high winds, a tornado, or even an earthquake.
